If I wrote “Titanic”

If I wrote “Titanic”

I’m going to go to see the famous Titanic today,so I couldn’t sleep because of excitement last night. It was my last voyage before ı retire. I woke up in the morningand immeditely I got dressed then I went to the port. Although the ship was constructed yet, it looked gigantic. This year the ship’s hull was put into the water and the consruction of the ship Andrew from crew came to me. While I was dreaming of the completed ship, he was already began telling.

-Yes Mr. Smith this is Titanic. It has 269 metres length and 28 metres width the ship can carry maximum 3547 people. I don’t how whether you know or not, but 892 people are working in the crew how.

A year passed after that conversation. The titanic was completed. Later, it first sailed on April 10th 1912, and it was from England to Newyork. That day the crew and the passengers were taken on the board at 9:30.If I wrote “Titanic”

That day the crew and the passengers were taken on the board at 9:30.

The ship was divided according to positions of the people. On the bottom floor poor people were travilling and rich people were traviling upstairs. There were swimming pools, gym, turkish baths, libraries and tennis courts in the ship’s main deck. Commanly used spaces were decorated with expensive wood furniture and with expensive things. In these there were pionos and painthings on the wall inside the rooms for special for first class passengers. The ship was built with the most advanced equıpment of the time. I started the first voyoge. Before we went to the Newyork, I first went to a French port because I had to take passengers from the European continent and then I went to the United Kingdom. When the Titanic left the port, there were icebergs on the rote the ship goes, but I didn’t get that news. Iceberg warnings continued throughout the day. Actually, because I thought these warnings were considered that time, they didn’t inform us. Although they kept on the warnings, there wasn’t any change on the route of the ship. There were three teams called as the looks out. Teams were consist of two people and teams were changed in every two hours. The look outs were standing on the pole, and they were constantly watching the opposite route of the ship. On the other nights, the icebergs were certain to be seen earlier, but that night everything was againist us. There was nothing , I meant no wind, no wave, no binoculars, no moonlight. The ocean was like bed sheet that night. I handed over the ships rulet o the second captain, and I went to our bedroom to sleep. Unfortunately, at that time, everything was done.

The look outs saw an iceberg too late, so they were late to inform. While fire indicators in the ship boiler was at full capacity, later then they were stopped. I thought at that moment Murdoch could have ordered a complete turn to the port side.

I woke up from noise and felt a shaking. Immediately I rant o captain cabin. I was horrifield, I was wery afraid of the event, but I should have been cool. I ordered the lifeboats to be taken down to the sea. Everyone was so panic and they were running around shouting. We made a plan together. We invited everybody to deck because it was on the ship’s nose, and distributed life vests to all passengers. Later, we put people on the lifeboats. The rule was women and their childeren would got on the lifeboats first. This caused more men to die. Later, I took a boy to the lifeboats before the ship sank.

While I was turning back, the boy didn’t leave me. I behaved selfishly and pretended to be father of the child. Eventhough everyone knew me, I behaved as if I were the boys father.

Everyone accepted the situation. When we went to the first port, Titanic’s half was sank. However an unexpected disaster occured on the ship, the ship was divided into two. It was so scaring. Most of the people ran towards the end of the deck to escape from alonge. Some people fell down the icey water of the Atlantic, because they couldn’t hold on the poles on the ship. Some deck officers shot themselves with a revolverin order not to die freezing. It was very painful for me to see them like that. I escaped by behaving selfishly, but nobody knew that. Then several lifeboats were emptied after we arrived the other port. They returned to save the people left behind, but it was too late, everyone was frozen to death and their faces turned white and flooding the ocean. It was so scaring. Only 705 people survived this accident, and unfortunately 1517 people froze to that according to known reports. All was because of me. I confess and I fired engines more than their capacity because I wanted to be famous. I thought, if I went earlier, everyone would talk about me. Nevertheless, I didn’t say to my crew. The number of lifeboats wasn’t enough, and I even refused the warnings about this. During all day those years, I couldn’t even says anything to my own family. I was ashamed of my self. I’ve always tired to do good things after this event all my life.

However, I’ve always felt the regret. Now I am very sick. If my children, grand children and my wife read this diary and If they even forgave me, I’ll never forgive myself. I have always had night mares, and I’m very upset.

My only word to them; My family be always good people…
